16/11/21 Bloodwash (Imagine being a freshman... IN THE INNER-CITY!)

A poor (in the whole sense of the word) pregnant med student, whom we are supposed to feel empathy for, gets involved in a most contrived, forceful line of events.

This med student has to go wash some clothes in the middle of the night, and since the washing machine of this awful apartment block in this less-than-friendly neighborhood is broken she has to make a trip to an utterly suspicious twenty-four hours laundromat. All the while, a killer named 'the womb ripper' is on the prowl, hunting young pregnant women at night around the laundromat area. What could go wrong, right?

While we wait for the clothes we find clues about who this killer is in photos and journals, and question the adjacent stores (not weird at all). We end with something like this:

A pregnant woman for some reason is locked in the store she works in and later set on fire, and since this unexplained 'accident' results in the loss of her child, after miraculously healing all the second to third-degree burnings on her own, and while feeding on rats and moist (what else could she got to sustain herself in an abandoned building next door?) she decides that the best thing to do rather than adopt kids or do therapy (who does that?) is start butchering other pregnant women to rip the unborn child out of their womb, ignoring basic rules of anatomy, human behavior and living creatures in general that even I know under alleged madness.

At the end of the game we confront this killer, and to our surprise, she's bullet-proof and takes about ten minutes and a whole magazine of 9mm to take her down. Of course, this is only temporary, because, in an after-credits scene, the womb ripper escapes the mortuary house. Still, even with all this absurd story, the game is quite enjoyable and if not scary entertaining. Extra plus on the graphics.

And he wasn't the bad guy, can't belive it

(edit 2024: Not pixel graphics. At the moment, aparently I didn't quite know that not all low-res games were pixel art. Like all (or most) chilla's art games Bloodwash is a queer mixture between low-resolution photography and VHS filter graphics) 6/10

The conventional five-star and ten-out-of-ten rating systems have become stale, visually uninspired, and inadequate for capturing the nuance...
