PR: Mom gets breaks a leg and daughter has to cover for her in the family library shop, and between dealing with seniors, kids, patrons ans even a harasser she pretty much downplays the whole "give candy and read to the being in the basemant" that mommy dearest slides as one of the clerk duties. It's a funny note that she reads "little women" to the monster rather than her own book.
One night a guy dubbed Chad aka the sexual harasser gets MC alone and tries to rape her, and appears to be at the brink of succeden when she falls down the stairs and breaks an arm. Fortunatly this being is not only pretty chill and polite, but also protective. Not so fortunate for Chad, though, as gets eaten like a bag of Skittles. Eversince monsty and MC are BFFs, nothing like killing potential assailants to make friends.
Pretty modest short story, not bad, not particularly good, more goofy than horror-like and a bit too clear on its intention to have us sympatize with the monster.
It would have been much better if instead of Chad, more one-dimesional character in creation, it was mom dearest who gets eaten or someone of some importance to MC, and this balances with other events as to make some sort of dychotomy rather than railroading the monster. 4/10
