?/?/? This war of mine. (Bad survival war game with moral lesson)

The scene is laid inside the kitchen of a house in ruins, to the left a door leads to the street

KATIA

Cruel, dark destiny!

The raging war, the mutilated corpses, the defiled marriage beds of the deceased soldiers!

This is all I will depict sweetened in my journal that'll become a best-seller after my death.

Yea, rape for harassment; starvation for deprivation. No corpses shall appear, nay.

BRUNO

I can't be self-absorbed if I'm not properly fed, where's the food, woman?

KATIA

It run out yesterday, but today a merchant

eluding snipers, soldiers, and rebels will come to our doorstep

Bringing food and every other thing we may need.

BRUNO

How can you be so certain?

Can't we rely on the magical vegetables that grow in three days?

KATIA

Don't be foolish, we don't have any filtered rainwater, the only kind with which plants can be watered.

And haven't you noticed that he comes regularly every two days, despite the dangers?

(Someone knocks on the door)

KATIA

Wait, please! It'll just take me two hours to get to the door, that despite being so close takes so much time to reach!

I'm almost there... Hi! I would hope you were not a robber I just open the door to, but they just come at night

and even then the full gang doesn't manage to take more than two or three things in one raid.

ANTON

Hello! I'm just an old fart who knows nothing. My students died protecting my pathetic wrinkled ass,

probably my fault since I can't carry much, run fast, guard the hideout, or put an actual fight.

Can you let me stay? I promise I'll earn my keep doing absolutely nothing.

KATIA

Sure you can! I mean, out of all four of us only one can go savage

even if we desperately need food, medicine, or bandages.

(ROMAN enters through the door)

ROMAN

I got the medicine for our dying children,

and I could lie and say that I found it in an abandoned house

but some dark force came to me in the eight hours I've been staring at the saying instead of going to fetch more resources compels me to confess;

Alas, I stole it from a shoot-on-sight group leaving them with nothing but everything else!

And as a coup-de-gracè, I mercilessly murder one of my soldier buddies that innocently shot at me!

I will now whine about it for the next three days, wallowing in self-pity.

KATIA (starts rending her garments)

Oh, what have we become! We are but the shadow of our former selves,

a monstrous abomination who deserves nothing but contempt!

BRUNO (trying to console her)

Hey. Listen to me, I want to make it through, and I need your help

So stop crying and pull yourself together!

KATIA

Go away! Oh, take me abyss! (slits her wrists)

BRUNO

Oh. No. Now I'm sad. Well, who's hungry?

What did you bring Roman?

ROMAN

I could not stand to steal anything else. But hear! Someone is coming

(U.N. PEACEKEEPER knocks on the door)

PEACEKEEPER

Rest assured, citizens! War is over!

BRUNO

Hold on, hold on. You can't just waltz in and end the war whenever you feel like it.

I got a business running in here! Do you know when I'll be able to trade an assault rifle for twenty cigarettes again?

Never. I refuse that the war ends here.

PEACEKEEPER

Once again, rest assured, my friend! After watching the epilogue of this run you can select a group of survivors

whose new abilities don't change anything, and play these repetitive actions over and over again in slightly changed scenarios!

BRUNO

But what will become of me?

PEACEKEEPER

Depending on whether you've been good, neutral, or evil you'll have your generic ending;

If good then all your problems will solve and you'll become successful in whatever is that you do

If neutral then your guilt and this war will haunt you for the rest of your life

If bad your guilt will crush you either killing you or making your existence mediocre and miserable!

BRUNO

What about Roman? The only bad thing he's done was robbery, he stole that medicine to give it to a dying children!

PEACEKEEPER

Evil!

Thanks for playing!

(edit 11/24 While the thetre-play-like parody is fun to read it doesn't  really translates as to how the gameplay is: let me illustrate, extremely vexing.

The story is not half as compelling as reviewers make it seem, the characters being so plain with a simplistic bio based around their traits and all and while the graphics are pretty good they can savage the gameplay.

OK, so if you play it "right" everyone just ends up dying of sickness and depression, as virtually anything makes the characters go into depression, and sickness just gets worse and worse without making much sense.

So the game prompts you to raid different places where all the administration reduces itself to combat, which reduces to hide in a closet, kill the passerby, make some noice, hide in the closet, kill the passerby until none remains. Killing one or ten makes no difference in the mood impact. Then you loot everything, every single thing and dragged it to the base, most characters get depressed especially the "killer" but some buzze, some ciggies and he's ready to go again. I don't know how the gaming scene was in 2014, but 2020 the game isn't very impressive. 5/10)

Introducing NO HOPE rating system

The conventional five-star and ten-out-of-ten rating systems have become stale, visually uninspired, and inadequate for capturing the nuance...
